Objectives
- Define unconscious bias: Participants will be able to explain the concept of unconscious bias and identify how it can manifest at each stage of the recruitment and selection process, from candidate sourcing to onboarding and beyond.
- Recognise different types of unconscious bias: be able to identify common forms of unconscious bias and understand how these biases impact decision-making in recruitment and selection.
- Be more aware of one’s own personal biases affect your judgement: reflect on and recognise your own potential biases
- Apply mitigation strategies: be able to implement practical strategies (e.g., structured interviews, standardised assessments, blind recruitment) to reduce bias and promote fair decision-making.
- Promote diversity and inclusion: understand the value of diversity in the workplace and be able to articulate the benefits of reducing bias in recruitment to create more inclusive hiring practices.
